Section britannique

This language offer, present in primary schools, includes French and foreign pupils in the same section. Pupils receive at least three hours of teaching in a foreign language.

Aims of the international sections

The sections have three main aims:

  • to facilitate the integration of foreign pupils into the French school system and their possible return to their home system,
  • to create a framework for a conducive learning environment of a modern foreign language at a high level for French pupils,  through the presence of foreign pupils,
  • to encourage the transmission of the cultural heritage of the countries concerned.

Time of teaching in modern language :

In the Strasbourg School District (Académie de Strasbourg)  , 4 hours per week, on a annual basis, of teaching in modern languages.

  • Each week, pupils follow six hours of teaching in a foreign language.
  • Special courses (UPE2A) are planned to help foreign pupils learn/improve in French.

How to apply to an international section?

Families must submit an application file to the department of academic affairs (Direction Académique) for the language section of their choice. It is composed of:

  • a school registration certificate issued by the mayor of the town of residence
  • copies of the candidate’s  identity documents and those of their legal representatives
  • any documents that enable the assessment of  the pupil’s ability to follow the specific teachings of this cursus

Pupils must take an oral test to check their ability to follow and benefit from this type of teaching.

The school’s headteacher then passes the admission proposals on to the academic inspector, who gives final approval for admission.

Families living in Bas-Rhin can apply for the 2020-2021 school year up until April 2020, the 3rd for the 2021-2022 school year. Families arriving from another French county (département) or from abroad can apply for the 2020-2021 school year up until the beginning of admissions session for the 2021-2022 school year.
